A Century of Innovation and Excellence
CAM Innovation’s roots trace back to 1910, when the Peerless Equipment Company of Hanover, Pennsylvania, began crafting DC motor repair equipment for industries such as steel manufacturing, mining, shipbuilding, and streetcar systems. Around the same time, The Mummert-Dixon Company of Hanover was revolutionizing machinery production with innovations like screw-cutting machines, wire weaving looms, and large grinding systems.
In the 1920s and 1930s, Peerless Equipment joined forces with the Electric Service Company of Philadelphia, its distributor and eventual parent division. During World War II, a surge in demand from the U.S. Navy brought Charles McGough Jr., a talented young engineer, to Hanover to lead the charge in tripling production.
Post-war America witnessed a transformative shift as railroads transitioned from steam to electric and diesel-electric locomotives. This new technology opened vast opportunities for Peerless products and marked the beginning of our enduring partnership with the railway industry, a legacy that continues to drive us forward today.
